Chasing Shadows

Whoever said money is bad has definitely not tasted poverty. Money in itself is not bad but "the love of money is the root of all kind of evil". When the pursuit of wealth becomes an obsession and a person forgoes Morales and tosses caution to the wind, then there is cause for concern. When you no longer care about the people that are hurt in your "pursuit of wealth" then there is a problem

ASIRI TU

"Asiri tu" in Yoruba, a language spoken in the Western part of Nigeria  means "the secret has been exposed! (I really should start charging for these free language lessons). Whose secret has been exposed? Well, its scorching hot outside and most men are shirtless and the ladies are attired in cut-off shirts and shorts- any light clothings to make the heat bearable! For the less brave like me, its a breezy dress;anything to allow for comfort in this weather. However, that's not the only reason I am wearing a dress. I have been on a weight loss journey since forever and the folds are barely shifting. I have lost some weight but not as much as I planned or desired at the beginning of the year. Its almost second half of the year and I'm far from my target weight. Aside from the medical reasons, I've not been consistent with my exercises and less rigid with my diet. Kindly blame my erratic diet on my love for Pounded yam and egusi!!! "Chineke God of Israel deliver your daughter from this unlawful captivity and bondage to food especially pounded yam and Yinka's delicious efo-riro (vegetable soup), Amen and Amen".

Miracles Come from Unexpected Sources.

EDITOR'S NOTE: We all desire a miracle don't we?. Unfortunately, most people have a set expectation of how their breakthrough would come. 2 Kings 1 tells the story of Naaman, commander of the Syrian army who almost lost his miracle because it contradicted his expectations. God cannot be boxed. He is too mighty to be constrained. Don't be limited by your mindset be open to God's miraculous wonders.
These days, I don't care if a fish swallowed Jonah or Jonah swallowed a fish as long as there is a swallowing..lol. LET MY MIRACLES COME. Be blessed by this brilliant article culled from Daily Hope by Rick Warren, author of best selling book THE PURPOSE DRIVEN LIFE.

Free From Fear

.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Fear is not a healthy emotion. It is a crippling state of mind that does not allow a person to thrive. Fear denies the sovereignty of God.  For a person living in fear, life is more of an ardours existence instead of a purpose driven living. Fear defeats the purpose of creation. On the other hand, it takes courage and faith to truly live. To overcome fear, one must have a full understanding of who calls the shot in our lives; who is in charge! It involves having a godly perspective in any knotty situation.   Fearless living is not a denial of a challenge but acknowledging God as Sovereign in our lives. A fearless life takes into cognisance what is real and what is not.  It is the godly perspective that matter no matter what. "the lord is the light of my salvation -whom shall I fear" psalm 24:1. Every time you give room for fear in your life, you lose control. God's desire is that we should have dominion over everything including our emotions more so crippling ones like fear. I know what it is to live in fear but every time I turn the object of my fear to God, I realise there was nothing to fear in the first place and therein I have peace. Moreover, faith gets heaven’s attention and I do love attention. Enjoy this brilliant article by Greg Laurie of harvest Ministries.

Don't Be A Copy

Over time I have realised that the strategies that work for others will not necessarily work for me. The distance in believers journey in life might differ but the end result is the same.-we are all heaven bound. We all face challenges but our attitude and mindset are most likely different even if the challenges are similar. This is because we are products of different environment and experiences.  I noted with interest during my personal study that we have different expressions of Faith but same God. The woman with the issued desired only to touch the helm of Jesus's garment to receive her healing (Mark 5:25-29), the centurion soldier wanted Jesus to only speak the word and his servant would be healed (Matthew 8:5-13) while Jairus implored Jesus to come home with him and heal her child (Mark 5:35-43). SAME FAITH, DIFFERENT EXPRESSIONS. Stick with the programme than works best for you as long as it is embedded in Christ. The book of 1 Kings  records the story of two men who carried out the same action but ended with different result. King Solomon's brother, Adonijah  in an attempt to avoid the King's wrath held unto horns of the alter and was pardoned for his crimes while Joab on the other hand  in 1Kings 2 copied the same action but was struck dead. How ironic!! One might argue that it was because Adonijah was his brother but I hate to disappoint you because Solomon still ordered his killing.  Reminds me of a time I decided to embark on a line of business that was popular at at a time in Ireland, my 3 attempts ended in huge financial loss while others prospered. However, the moment I consulted with the holy spirit and yielded to his instructions on another business venture that was not so popular the outcome has been awesome. Don't do something because others are doing it. Find what works for you. Sister Carol can pray for 10 hours but I can't and I'll only frustrate myself if I attempt to copy her! Life is an exam don't copy other people's strategies, it may not work for you.  The underlying principles might be the same but I'm sure God has a splash of flavour to add to your story so you can stand out from the crowd.I know most people copy out of fear and panic but relax and trust God. He knows what He is doing unlike us.  YOU ARE UNIQUE, CELEBRATE YOUR PECULIARITIES.

Happy Birthday Prof Brainiac

BE WARNED: Don't be deceived by that sassy pose! Hidden beneath those layers of afro curls and ample bossom is the most brilliant mind and brain that I know. My dearest friend, sister and professional colleague is a year older, yippeee!!! I should have put the put up this post yesterday but I couldn't find the right words to describe her amazing skills, talents and personalty. You really need to meet this Prof Braniac. I met Mary as a journalist at Africa Indepedent Television (AIT) eons  ago. You couldn't help but notice this young, whirl-wind-of a lady as she stormed into the room. "How could such a pint sized, teddy bear- height  girl pack up so much energy ?", I wondered from my small corner in the office as she engaged in an argument with the desk editor. That argument was one of the many I'd see my new friend engage in...lol. The thing is Mary is a very creative person, brilliant script writer, reporter and presenter but was stuck in a quagmire which did not  allow her fully "unleash" her passion to the fullest hence the conflicts. Even the "ogas" admitted she was a force to be reckoned with!
I secretly called her "hurricane mary" 'cos she was such a drama queen..lol but her drama had a reason and a purpose. Her reports were the outlets for her creativity and she'll gladly unleash the wrath of the titans on anyone who dares to stem that flow..lol. Mary was trully passionate about her job and knew it well.  I constantly looked out for any of her productions; she somehow had the ability to turn a crappy idea into a brilliant programme.  Her edgy and infectious personality alway  shone through the television screen at you-what do you expect from the hurricane goddess..lol. One of Mary's amazing programme was "VOICES" a documentary styled programme that showcased social and humanitarian injustices in Nigeria. Brilliant show, well researched and produced.  Someone once asked how and where do I get my "crazy" friends from? the answer is simple-I DEY CRASE MYSELF afterall birds of the same feathers flock together..lol. What actually amazes me is that I somehow find myself surrounded by intelligent women that are brilliant in their fields of endeavour. I am definitely not complaining because scriptures says "He that walks with the wise shall be wise but the companion of fools shall be destroyed" Proverbs 13:20. I am proud to be associated with this braniac!  In all, my dear Mary is an amazing and great friend. She is a very much appreciated member of  my inner circle of friends and support network. She encouraged and supported my decision to keep my pregnancy in the wake of rejection. Mary did not judge but applauded my choice, for that I AM FOREVER GRATEFUL.
Dearest Mary, I am proud of the woman you've become and the amazing mother that you are. This post is  incomplete without that delightful (tyrant) bundle of joy of yours NAOMI.
This adorable cutie is the reason my friend has become a mushy mum-THANKS NAO.
Happy birthday Mary..no vex I tire to type..lool.
Told y'all she was crazy..lol. love you babes!

Be Real

You can never put a price on sincerity.  While taking cognisance that the truth could hurt, its better to hurt for the truth than wallow in self deceit. Chose to be different by standing for the truth and saying the truth; never apologise for being YOU.  "Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ" Ephesians 4:15

True Love

Show me someone that is struggling  with love and I’ll show you someone that does not KNOW GOD.
You can never know true love until you know and embrace God's love. Life will be a trudge through a dump pile until you find the God kind of love. No wonder the world is searching for love because it has been searching in the wrong places!! God is the template of love. God is love. All others are not even shadows of what real love is. Relationships suffer because the concept of love has been perverted. A lot of people struggle with giving and accepting loved based on experience instead of relying on God. The matter is further compounded with the media but the media is driven by people who are also confused about love! You see, the media tries to instil its own definition of love on susceptible audience based on sex and sexuality but all with destructive results;  if it aint God, it ain’t real!!   To enjoy love, you must know God. Love is not a baton to batter people with but an expression of God through man and God is not out to destroy you.

Love is serious business not an idle stroll in the park. It is commitment,

hardwork and service. If you don’t mean it, don’t say it! God said what He meant and meant what he said when He told man “I LOVE YOU”. John 3:16 “For God so love the world that He Gave…” God’s profession of love was not an idle statement but a demonstration of His nature. I’d rather a man not tell me he loves than have those precious words tainted with deceit or used as meaningless jargon. IT IS A SLIGHT ON THE NATURE OF GOD when people are abused in the name of LOVE.
Never start a “love” relationship until you know the God kind of love. It is only therein that that you can truly be the best and give the best. It will no longer be about you but the other person; love is then no longer self- centred but selfless. You cannot know the love of God via self- help books or other kind of intervention. The source of love is God and His nature is revealed in the bible with the help of the Holy Spirit. What better time than now to start relearning love? let’s give real love a go and it begins in the bible not Shakespeare!!

Big Brother is Watching

Over the years, reality television has grown into a formidable genre. Love or hate it, several spin off reality shows continue to emerge ranging from the absurd to downright inconceivable. Some actually make for great television with the likes of My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding, An Idiot Abroad, Big Brother etc.
It actually amazes me on how far people would go to be overnight sensations. Some would argue that it stems from this innate desire to be accepted by others-how else can you explain the reason people pretend to be what they are not on Facebook and other social media platforms. The term Big brother refers to a surveillance kind of reality television where a group of contestants are kept in a house specially fitted with cameras giving the voting public all access to participants every activities. The voting public through the lens of big brother is privy to aspects of contestants that other participants don’t know….Uncanny, isn’t it? The idea of being watched and not knowing? Of course some act up for the cameras but they can only go so far before their real character is revealed!
Reputations have been made and sullied in the Big Brother House! Would you behave differently knowing your every acts is being closely watched?
I know a group of people who would have acted differently if they’d known that unseen eyes were on them or the consequences of their actions.

Chose Kindness Always #hotchocolateforcoldmornings

For some reasons, when we were younger my sister would never wear any new stuff in the middle of the week. No matter how beautiful the outfit is she'd wait till the beginning of a new week to show it off. It didn't matter what it was, how much it costs, as long as it new; it deserves attention and celebration..lol.  My loko baby sister believed starting and showing off her new stuffs at the start of a new week gave her a boost!!
I can't confirm the veracity of her claim but I do know new is beautiful, fresh and good. Every new day deserves a new set of attitude-no carry overs. God does not recycle his love and mercies, He gives His children fresh daily doses."The steadfast love of the lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning" Lamentations 3:22-23. In the spirit of newness, start this week with kindness and relate with people in kindness. In the face of difficulties, be kind anyway. People will not necessarily appreciate you but chose kindness always. In due time you'll reap the reward. IT PAYS TO BE KIND  Have a great week peeps.

Crabs in a Pail

EDITOR'S NOTE: I don't know the nutritional benefits in crabs but I do know they taste great in Nigerian  Efo Riro (vegetable stew) supported with pounded yam.
Imagine my surprise when I learnt there is a trait in crabs that is also found in humans!! Dear friends, envy is not peculiar to people alone, crabs also display this trait when gathered together!!!. So the next time you eat a bowl of crab soup, think on this.
Kindly read and the rest of this article brilliantly written by Greg Laurie of harvest Ministries.

Decision, Discipline and Determination

EDITOR'S NOTE: Successful people don't just happen. They are the product of commitment and hard work. They are people that go the extra mile in achieving their goals, giving wings to their vision no matter how seemingly insurmountable  the challenges. Learn the principles of success as outlined on ucb.ie

Just Do It.

Fear is one of the major catalyst of failure. In most cases, this crippling emotion lies not so much in the inability or otherwise of someone to do something but "reluctance" to even try for fear being labelled "inept". However, how can a person recognise innate abilities if he or she never ventures? A popular parlance says "nothing ventured nothing gained". If you never try, how would you know your potentials? If you never try how would you garner experiences and increase knowledge?  I have imbibed this new mindset that it's better to try something and fail than never try at all. Moreover, the concept of failure itself is a matter of perspective! For instance, if someone organises a seminar and only five people turn up instead of looking at the situation from the bottom's up, work with what you have and re strategies.Nike's timeless slogan "JUST DO IT" spurs every individual to live life and not merely exist. It encourages embracing a life of endless possibilities  i.e.  transition from inspiration to action. I also love Thomas Edison's perspective on failure. On his contribution to the invention of the light bulb he described his many attempts not as failure but learning experiences"I have not failed. I have just found 10,000 ways that don't work". It must have taken a tenacious doggedness to keep trying with such astounding trail of negative results. Thank God, he persisted!   Dare to take that step. Dare to give that idea wings. Dare to believe in your vision You never know the infinite possibilities that lie ahead until you try. "For we walk by faith and not by sight" 2 Corinthians 5:7
Right now, the Nike Slogan is my personal mantra and I'm excited at the myriad of adventure ahead of me. Don't let naysayers and joy killers distract you neither let fear stifle your vision. Most times, you are your own stumbling block.

The Lord's Mercy Endures

EDITOR'S NOTE: If I were God, I would have give given up on me a looooong time ago! Many times whe I mess up, He cleans me up but like a dog the stench of my vomit is more desirable than cleanliness. We live in a time that when something is broken or ceases to serve its purpose, its out in the bin-no room for repairs or patchwork! NO ROOM FOR SECOND CHANCES. In the movie  " The World's End" featuring Simon Pegg, the major protagonists so frustrated the robot invaders that they gladly abandoned earth to its fate! The dialogue that ensued in that scene is the most hilarious I have ever heard..lol.
How blessed is the human race that God is nothing like those invading robots.
When you consider God's Mercy, what comes to mind? Read this devotional by Dorothy Valcarcel. Enjoy.http://www.transformationgarden.com/

When I say "I LOVE YOU"

"I love you" is arguably the most loosely used words by people. It is carelessly tossed around by men and women alike without great thoughts given to its meaning. For many the words "I LOVE YOU" is a means to an end and not an end in itself. In some cases it’s even used as an instrument of abuse. For instance, many blame an abusive relationship on love. Recently, a man "battered" the mother of his new born child in the heat of an argument and later pulled are to his laps, rained kisses on her and said "sorry darling but you know I love you"! The poor woman remained in the relationship purely out of fear of being alone and justified the man's action as a consequence of “drunken love".
    • True love will never consciously hurt the other no matter the provocation.
    • True love implies commitment through the good times and the not so palatable situations.
    • True love is saying what you mean and meaning what you say.
    • Love is not determined or motivated by external factors.
    • It is a conscious decision not based on emotions alone.
    • It is a deliberate decision to remain in love no matter what.
    • Love is work.
    • Love does not bully.

For some love is an acquired behaviour as it does not come naturally and has to be learnt. Since God is the author of love, let’s examine what love truly means in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, I call it the LOVEOMETRE.

7 signs its time to start making changes

EDITOR'S NOTE: Change is most times difficult as it entails letting go of set mindsets, values and embracing the new. New represents uncertainty and for fearful people andcontrol freaks it could be difficult. Change is also not always convenient but always worth embracing. Enjoy this brilliant article by life coaches Marc and Angel Chernoff. Kindly subscribe to their website and purchase their inspiring books.

While there are plenty of positive changes we seek in life – new relationships, new experiences, better education, etc. – for most of us, change represents uncertainty. With uncertainty comes insecurity and worry. The truth is, change isn’t always easy to deal with, but it’s something we have to embrace openly.

Laugh Out Loud

EDITOR'S NOTE:Just like a lot of you, I have been battered, bruised yet not broken. I have suffered rejection and emotional abuse yet I still find reasons to laugh. I have a physical disability but never allowed it to erode my confidence or affect my self esteem. Having a child with "Autism" has taught me how to give unconditional love. You see, there are daily challenges this side of heaven but you have a choice; be defeated or run your opponents outta town-I CHOOSE THE LATTER. My attitude has got nothing to do with my abilities or lack thereof but its about THE GOD IN ME. I appreciate life because I have experienced the darkness of depression. I appreciate having more than enough because I've experienced lack. How can you appreciate laughter, if you've never been sad? I know sadness that is why I appreciate God, the giver of Joy. My little sister Vickie mamalet(don't know how or where she got mamalet from) wrote this tribute about moi. Please enjoy, no room for bad belle..lol "The resilent are people who do not allow a problem limit their dreams or stop them from achieving. A lot of people allow a little dislocation rewrite their destiny for them, i have seen some people varnish in their regrets and die Un accomplished. Frustration sets in when the door of hope is shut down. Hmm when your right hand is broken, use the left and give the broken one reasons to come alive. I have seen a lot of broken pieces but this particular one did not stay broken" Yeah, that's me on the spin machine-i'm an insurance risk if I must say so myself..who cares? life is for living. Enjoy this comedy skit i put together for your plesure. Remember, LIVE LIFE, LOVE LIFE AND LAUGH DAILY.

TAKE CHARGE #hotchocolateforcoldmornings

Most people dread Mondays! After a weekend of fun and relaxation, its back to a reality of work and serious endeavour. For most people, work is a chore-backbreaking,monotonous and boring. However no matter the kind of job you do, Mondays do not have to dreary!! It is all about you attitude. What you bring into your day and how you tackle the day's activities matter. YOU SHOULDN'T BE AFRAID OF MONDAYS, MONDAYS SHOULD BE AFRAID OF YOU!! Man is created for dominion and that includes taking charge of how your day is going to take shape. Shape your world with the right words and attitude. The most challenging situation or job can turn up beautiful if handled with a winning attitude. I know this attendant on the Waterford bound train. I don't know his name but I remember his smile and amiable character. He treats passengers as if we are all first class customers aboard a luxury jet. I'm sure the job doesn't pay much but it didn't affect his service delivery rather the man makes it an experience for all to enjoy and remember. Seriously, a simple cup of tea is more tasteful when served by my nameless friend. Don't complain about your job, BE THANKFUL you've got a job at all! Don't dread Mondays, BE THANKFUL you're alive to experience a Monday. "This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it" psalm 118:24. Everything you need to have a beautiful day and life is within your reach. God took time to fashion this day. You don't have to do much, just rejoice and be glad in it. No more lousy Mondays, YOU ARE IN CHARGE!!

The day I prayed in Yoruba

It was an unusual kind of day. For some inexplicable reason I woke up cranky, sad and very much upset. There was no obvious reason for my foul mood as I'd gone to bed the previous night happy and ready to conquer whatever the dawn would bring in its wake. But I woke up defeated and angry at the world and at myself-angry at where I was and how I'd stupidly allowed myself to be browbeaten by life. Before the dark thoughts could overwhelm and totally ruin my day, I rolled onto my knees and prayed. The words that rolled out of my tongue were not the grand words that I was used to but the heartfelt cry of a little girl that I'd lost her way. As I poured my heart out, I realised I was praying in a not so familiar language. Not so familiar because I use the language to converse but never actually pray. You see, I was born in a Yoruba speaking part of Nigeria but I'm not a Yoruba girl by origin. To make matters more interesting, I was born in the not so much posh side of town so I know how to get down and dirty in the language. I can read, write and rap freestyle in the language. That day years back, the only interesting and fascinating thing I was doing in Yoruba was pouring my feelings at the feet of the one who loves and cares for me, in a language dear to me. Despite all my claim to Western education, the deep part of me is still that small Yoruba speaking girl and it was that little girl that reached out to the Master's feet after all the bible says "Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me" Psalm 42:7. In order to experience a deeper intimacy with God, there was no room that morning for excessive grammar or pretence before the one who knew me even before creation "Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee, and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee; I have appointed thee a prophet unto the nations" Jeremiah 1:5 Hannah in the book of 1 Samuel definitely understands my position. She found herself in the temple brow beaten by barreness and humiliated by her husband's other woman. When she opened her mouth to pray, no audible word came forth only a heartfelt mumble that only God understood. Many times in the place of prayer words will fail but thank God for the HOLY SPIRIT. "In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words;and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God" Romans 8:26-27 "Intimacy with God is found in the realm of the spirit" BENNY HINN. It is a place of perfect communion and fellowship with God-no barriers or hindrances only easy and free access to the almighty." it is at times like this that words become inadequate because spoken words are the expression of the mind and not the soul. Words cease and you stop asking. Only your heart can speak as it erupts in worship". It is a heartfelt, deep level cry, communication and fellowship..TOTALLY AWESOME. That morning, I got on my knees broken but when the Yoruba little girl in me cried out, I rose up strengthened and my countenance brightened. I love that little girl in me , she is the reason I still smile through it all. P. S, THE CELEBRITY BABY PICTURE IS MY DARLING PRINCESS JANIS OBONNA..IS'NT SHE GORGEOUS....AND THAT MY FRIENDS AIN'T A QUESTION!

Appreciate Today #Hotchocolateforcoldmornings

You don't have to lose someone before you realise they really matter. Choose to appreciate that special person today and never take them for granted. The grave is filled with people who never got a chance to say "I love you" or even dared to forgive but would rather hold on to a grudge. Take sometime now to appreciate that friend, colleague, neighbour, husband and Me..lol. remember, some people are simply irreplaceable even if they drive you bonkers!!.

A FEW GOOD MEN and women.

I had this interesting discussion with a couple of friends some weeks back and the discussion somewhat shifted to men(no surprises there...lol). A running trend was how a lot of women have been hurt by men, how men now shirk their responsiblities and bottom line "there are no good men in Ireland". I wish I had taken a recording of how my dear friends were spewing fire..lol. As I gazed at the faces of the women at this informal meeting, I noticed we all had a lot in common aside from our bulging tummies....lol Some of us are single mothers made to bear the burden of raising kids alone without any form of support from the fathers. Even the ones that were married still shoulder the burden of being both father and mother at the same time. The single girls complained bitterly about how men just want to "use and dump"...how pathetic! I seriously blame this ugly trend on the erratic Irish weather!! It has the ability to turn any sane person nuts..lol. While not totally exonorating the women, I am not in a position to proffer reasons for any man that fails to uphold his position in the family as a priest, provider, care giver and father, they do a good job at making excuses themselves. I simply marvel at how a man would deliberately abandon his children simply because "he fell out of love with his wife or the woman is bad" or my all time favourite "my wife is a witch". Excuse me!!! but what about the children? Unfortunately, the first model for children are their parents. Children are great observers and are quick to recreate what they see!!! remember that the next time you want to utter an unkind thing about your spouse because it will bounce back at you!!! Even the church is not exempt as members tend to copy the mannerism of their pastors!! Jesus' disciples were identified because their lifestyles modelled the lord!! Every home needs a disciplinarian and that's one of the roles of the father but when the men abdicate their position the result is a family in chaos and society in disarray!!. The rise in single parent families and absentee fathers was identified as one of the causes of the London riot in 2011. Every child especially the boy child needs a father figure to emulate. So what happened? Where have the good men gone. As I pondered this knotty issue, I was reminded of the story in 1 Kings 19 when Elijah was bemoaning the killing of the the priests of Jehovah by Jezebel and saw himself as the "last man standing". But God's response staggered him " Yet I reserve seven thousand in Israel—all whose knees have not bowed down to Baal and whose mouths have not kissed him". Despite the huge number of priests that were killed by Ahab and his queen there were remnants that the lord had preserved for himself. It doesn't matter the number of Mis-directed and "deadbeat men out there there a few good men too. This I believe strongly. I know men who are kind, generous and God fearing. These type are not extinct-they really do exist but it takes sifting through the chaff to find one. Any man reading this that needs reprogramming, this a life changing event you shouldn't miss. Hey we all need help sometimes....make that ALL THE TIME

It's in the seed

Editor's Note: Every great idea starts as a seed but with immense potentials. Ironically, a seed can be easily despised and ignored because of its size and appearance. I am sure there are many seed ideas that you have lying idle in your mind. I read this interesting post that challenged and has inspired me. it is written by Dr Temi Odejide. Read and be mindful of that seed in your hand. ‘…a mustard seed… is smaller than all the seeds on earth… it grows up and becomes greater than all...’ – Mark 4:30-32 It may start small but it will become great. The great tree does not start out as a great tree but as a tiny seed. Everything starts as a seed. Never despise a seed because you do not know what that seed will become. Don’t look down on the seed. A seed speaks of potential. Potential is not what you have already done but what you could do. But a seed is a seed someone said. No Sir, a seed is not just a seed. Locked in a seed is untold potential and infinite possibilities. God always starts with a seed. God starts small. Despise not small beginnings. ‘Though your beginning was small, yet your latter end will greatly increase.’– Job 8:7 ‘Oh, that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their latter end.’– Deut. 32:29 When you plant the Chinese bamboo seed. It quickly sprouts from the ground but stays the same for four long years. Then in the fifth year it grows 3 feet per day till it reaches 90 feet tall. That is exponential growth! Sometimes your life can be like the Chinese bamboo tree but your growth is coming. So protect your seed. What is your seed? Your seed is your potential. Your seed is your product. Your seed is your jar of oil. Your seed is your gift. Your seed is your five fish and two loaves. Your seed is your competence. Your seed is your five stones and sling shot Your seed is your skill. Your seed is your staff in your hand Your seed is your talent. Your seed is your influence. But before you can unlock the potential in your seed it must go through a process. Today, re-evaluate the value of your seed. Tomorrow we’ll start discussing the process of the seed. Website: www.temiodejide.com Twitter: @ptemi1 BB: 2AFD5509 FB: facebook.com/temi.odejide

Why I forgive

Forgiveness is such a difficult concept to understand. it is difficult because it is contrary to the world system of beliefs. The nature of man is "tit for tat", be hit and hit back" but that is not the nature of God. In fact I remember a song that was popular when I was young titled "Face me" by popular Nigerian musician Sunny Neji. Although the song had its entertainment value, the underlying message was revenge. There was also a slogan that says "push me I push you God no vex". However I beg to differ! God is indeed "vexed" when we repay bad with bad. Scriptures says we are in the world but not of the world so we are not bound or operate by the world system. As Christians, we are expected to live a life that reflects Christ which can be seen when we forgive others though they hurt us. Someone rightly said Unforgiveness is like drinking poison and waiting for your enemy to die. It is futile and counter productive. The person that is most hurt by unforgiveness is the unforgiving person! it is torture to have hateful thoughts in your head. so why chose unforgiveness? I have heard the story of a lady that was bound in a wheelchair but there was no medical reason for her condition. During a deliverance session it was discovered that the cause of her problem unforgiveness. While she was confined to a wheel chair, the person that offended her was roaming "free". Abeg who come dey suffer? I forgive because I was forgiven. "Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you".Colossians 3:13. I am constantly reminded that while I was yet a sinner Christ died for me so who am I to hold a grudge? 2. Forgiveness makes me free. I am not bound but free. why waste mental or psycological strength on what is not profitable because unforgivess is unprofitable in the long run. Forgiveness allows God work in me and heal my hurt. 3. It releases my offenders into God's hands. According to Joyce Meyer "in trying to get revenge or take care of the situation instead of trusting God, He is not obliged to deal with the person."Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord".Romans 12:19. God will deal with those that hurt us. 4. Unforgiveness hinders my prayers "Therefore if you are presenting your offering at the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your offering there before the altar and go; first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and present your offering" Matthew 5:23-24 5. Unforgiveness hinders fellowship with God 6. Unforgiveness is the root of bitterness. It gives the devil a foothold into a believers life. 7.life is too short to short to live in bitterness. 8. I forgive because its the right thing to do! No excuse, no justification!! its just the right thing to do. 9. Forgiveness is a virture."Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things" Philippians 4:8. Forgiveness is not easy but it a choice and a command from God. It allows God to be God in a believers life. It takes focus off you, the other person and is God centred. Sometimes the first person to forgive is yourself-for allowing yourself to be hurt, used or deceived again. But forgive anyways! "UNFORGIVENESS IS SPIRITUAL FILTHINESS SO GET WASHED IN THE WATER OF GOD'S WORD TO FORGIVE AND STAY CLEAN", Joyce Meyer.

Smile #hotchocolateforcoldmornings#

There is something about food that makes me happy. Serve me a bowl of any edible, tantalising and finger licking delicacy and I'll be smiling like the cat that got cream..lol. I LOVE FOOD. But there are days that even the best cooked meal will fail to lift the corner of my eyes or touch my heart? You see sometimes the last thing you feel like doing is smiling. Do you feel like crawling into a corner and bawling your eyes out right now? Go on, give it a good go! Crying serves its purpose, therapeutic and all but when you are done give that challenge a kick in the backside by smiling like the whole world depended on it. I have learnt to smile irrespective of the situation around me. I'm not talking about that false smile that people have somewhat mastered that comes out lifeless. I'm talking full on MEGAWATTS that comes from a point of knowing IT IS WELL WITH MY SOUL. David understood this principle that is why some of his psalms might start out sad and defeated but his countenance would suddenly brighten and so does his situation. He knew God is never far. Just like praise, your smile confuses the enemy and brings a ray a of sunshine into an otherwise darkened situation. You can't offer praise to God and be gloomy. You may start out sad but I bet when you get midway recounting the awesomeness of God, His faithfulness and goodness, you wont be able to stop that upside down frown turning ride side up (seriously smiling myself now). Just as Praise changes your perspective, a smile brightens up an otherwise harsh countenance. People that smile make better companions, are approachable and pleasant to be around. I have certain friends that I love being around because they have a way of lighting up and making others smile, I call them LIGHTBEARERS. You may feel there is no obvious reason to smile but you are never without hope. Keep smiling in the midst of it all and watch God show up on your behalf. Moreover, your smile matters to somebody and YOU ARE SOMEBODY'S REASON TO SMILE. My friend's mum once said watching me eat gladdens her heart..lol. Try it today, ITS FREE, ITS FREE and it has the capacity to transform just about anyone except Mr Burns in THE SIMPSONS ..lol
